Bulgogi [Griddled Beef with Sesame and Soy]

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1.75 lb sirloin steak

For the marinade:

  • 4 scallions, 3 sliced thin, 1 shredded for garnish
  • 1/2 onion, chopped fine
  • 1 Asian pear, chopped fine
  • 4 tbs dark soy sauce
  • 4 tbs sugar
  • 2 tbs sesame oil
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tbs lemonade

Steps

  1. Finely slice the steak, and pound with a mallet to tenderize.

  2. Mix marinade, and marinate the steak at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours.

  3. Heat griddle gently. Add the meat and cook over medium heat, until meat is cooked through. Transfer meat to a serving dish and garnish with shredded scallion.

Notes

  1. I was able to buy steak that had already been sliced thin (about 1/8 inch, probably meant for cheesesteaks). That made this super-easy.
